Invitation to Serve

Haripad is a word suggesting the feet of the Lord. It is also the name of the place where Kerala’s first centre of Ramakrishna Movement was started. Haripad is in the Alleppey district of Kerala.

The centre was inaguarated in 1913 by Swami Nirmalanandaji Maharaj.

After the initial stages, some problems cropped up and the centre went out of the hands of the Ramakrishna Math. But, by the will of God, in 2007, the court declared that the centre belongs to Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math, and the centre has since then been running as a branch of Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math.

However, in the course of time, all the property like windows, doors, furniture, vessels and even the bricks, all disappeared due to human weaknesses and except land, nothing was left behind. That has left the centre in a fledgling state and the work has to be started from the scratch again.

We, two monks, at present are staying in a small building which was the godown of a shopkeeper.

We have to start the centre again in the place, a Village, called Pilapuzha , where it was originally inaugurated by Swami Nirmalananda Maharaj. Swami Brahmanandaji Maharaj, the spiritual son of Sri Ramakrishna stayed in this centre in 1916 for three days.

That is a grand opportunity, given to all of us by God, to serve Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna. The growth and the development of the centre depends upon the grace of Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna and the support and co-operation of devotees and generous persons like your kind self through service and donations.

The construction of Monks Quarters, welfare activity hall, office, library etc., to start the ashrama proper, is estimated at Rupees 1.75 crores and a temple for Sri Ramakrishna at Rs. 3 Crores.

The donation can be made in the name of one or joint name of your parents or children or any near and dear ones. At present we are staying in a small building which was the godown of a shopkeeper.

Donations are exempt under section 80G of the I.T.Act. The donations can be made by the way of Draft or cheque in the name of “RAMAKRISHNA MATH, HARIPAD’. (Please see donation information link for more details).

This, therefore, is an invitation to all of you, to serve the auspicious cause of Sri Ramakrishna. SERVE AND BE BLESSED.
